puff pastry plum tarts

[Hi everyone, thanks for reading! I just wanted to let you know that I’m currently running a quick 2-minute, 10 question reader survey and would really appreciate your feedback! You can find the survey here.]

These Puff Pastry Plum Tarts are the perfect example of trying to hold on to summer. You see, classes start up again in one week. I am not ready. Is anyone ever ready? This summer has been pretty insane. It’s been a bit of a roller coaster, up and down, down and up. There’s been a lot of changes this summer, plans changing, people changing, lives changing. That might sound a little over dramatic, but it’s not. After six years, my sister found out that she outgrew her epilepsy. It’s unbelievable. I was floored when I heard. I didn’t even know that could happen, and I couldn’t be happier for her, for our family. Finishing on an upswing is probably the best way to end the summer. This last positive boom makes the negativity of earlier this summer seem like a blip.

Puff Pastry Plum Tarts have been a constant character in my summer. I’ve been making them pretty frequently since June, for potlucks or dinner parties or just for my family and neighbours. You know how there is always a song of the summer? I think these Puff Pastry Plum Tarts are my dessert of the summer.

I love puff pastry! I made them as alfredo artichoke pizza with chanterelle mushrooms and roasted tomatoes. So gooooooooood and easy to make without the use of dairy or eggs. As for plums, these are also known as "ciruela amarillas" in Spain, aka yellow plums. I've seen them everywhere at the central/produce markets, and there are a lot of varieties of plums. It's fun to observe all kinds of fruits whilst traveling...I'm fascinated with the produces that I haven't seen before. I think I saw puff pastry somewhere at a grocery, maybe I'll try it with the Spanish plums, that sounds like a fun dessert to try!

Puff pastry is one of my favourites too! I love to visit markets and see different fruits when travelling, I didn't know the Spanish name for these plums - thanks for sharing!

First of all, I want to say how awesome that your sister has outgrown her seizures! I am soooo happy for her & for all of your family! Your spirits must be soooo uplifted & may God Bless you all as you look forward to a healthier, happier life for your beautiful sister. With this excellent news, you must have prepared her favourite recipes & served them to her on a silver platter & this recipe must be one of them as it looks so delicious! I have never used puff pastry. I must give it a try & if my attempt at this recipe looks even half as nice as yours, I'll be thrilled! Wishing you a great school year!!!
