A delicious twist on a classic burger: mint lamb burgers. This recipe combines the rich flavor of ground lamb with the fresh, vibrant notes of mint. Topped with a creamy tzatziki sauce, these burgers are perfect for a summer barbecue.
Preheat grill to medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grill grates to prevent sticking.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground lamb, egg, bread crumbs, red onion, garlic, mint, cumin, turmeric, cinnamon, turmeric and salt. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated.
Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties. The patties should be about 3" in diameter and ½" thick.
Place the lamb patties on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness (an internal temperature of 160°F for medium).
While the patties are cooking, toast the burger buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
Assemble the burgers by placing each lamb patty on a toasted bun and adding your desired toppings.
Notes
1. Use a neutral oil like canola oil to oil the grill.
2. Avoid pressing down on your patties as they cook, this will press all the juices out of the burgers.
